Course Selection for 2019-2020 Information for Grade 8 Parents

Timeline of Important Dates:

October 22 – 26, 2018

Student Services visit Grade 8 Family of Schools for Option Sheet Visits (Scheduled by student Services consultation with Grade 8 FOS teachers)

Guidance Counsellors will be visiting Grade 8 Classes to present the Course Selections Package/Options Sheets.

November 22 -29, 2018

Student Services return to Grade 8 Family of Schools and review myBlueprint Online Registration.

We will need all student accounts active if they are not already – Please see steps below.

2.     CREATE ACCOUNT as new user  – Select Corpus Christi Secondary School or LOGIN

(Activation key is: corpus ) Follow each of the prompts to activate Student Accounts.

3.     Contact myBlueprint directly if you have any issues or review the various webinars and video tutorials that they offer on their website. Technical Support at 1-888-901-5505 or help@myblueprint.ca .

Mini High-School Day – Wednesday November 14th, 2018

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT PERMISSION FORM IS Thursday October 25th, 2018, BY 2 pm

Corpus Christi will be welcoming our Grade 8 associate school students to a Mini High-school Orientation day on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018.

Students will be given an opportunity to experience a simulation of a high school day. Students will be participating in both Academic and Applied level classes. In the morning, students will be engaged in English and Math classes and the afternoon they will have the opportunity to tour a variety of elective classes.

A lunch consisting of pizza and a juice box will be provided. Permission forms will be handed out by the Grade 8 teachers and must be returned prior to the trip date to the homeroom teacher. We hope you enjoy our Mini High-School Orientation Day!

November 15th – Grade 8 Parent Night at Corpus Christi (Theatre)

November 5th – 21st – suggested timeline for FOS Teachers to…

  • Discuss and review with parents their recommendations for grade 9 options
  • All students will need to be able to access myBlueprint.
  • Contact myBlueprint directly if you have issues or review the various webinars and video tutorials that myBlueprint offers on their website.   

November 22nd – 29th, 2018

  • Corpus Christi Guidance Counsellors will visit FOS and help students enter the courses on myBlueprint.
  • Students will print myBlueprint Course Verification Sheet and Parent Consent form from myBlueprint and get it signed by a parent.

December 3rd, 2018

  • Students will return:
    • The original Option Sheet with recommendations from Grade 8 Teacher
    • Course Selections from myBlueprint
    • All signed consent forms from myBlueprint
    • School Cashless Online receipt
    • NOTE: myBlueprint will be disabled at midnight on December 2nd, 2018.

Please note the following:

  • Parents/guardians must sign all parts of the option sheet. Front and back as well as all consent forms from myBlueprint.

December 5th, 2018

    • Counsellors will pick up registration packages on December 5th at our Family of Schools.
    • Counsellors will not pick up incomplete packages and it will be the responsibility of the student and parent/guardian to hand deliver their completed registration package to Corpus Christi.  Late registrations may result in students not getting their first elective choice should space fill up by those who hand in on time.

Take Our Kids to work Day 

Each year, Grade 9 students at Corpus Christi are expected to participate in the national Take Our Kids to Work Day. On this day, students go to work for the day with a parent, guardian, or a significant adult where they observe the work world and understand its demands and opportunities. Please determine a placement for your child prior to the start of the 2019-2020 school year.

Community Service Hours

It is recommended that all students earn a minimum of 10 volunteer hours per year. Your child may begin their volunteer hours on July 1st of the summer before grade 9. When submitting volunteer hours to the Guidance Office, students are required to fill out a Community Service form and attach a letter from the person who sponsored them as they volunteered.
